The fifth annual Financial Literacy “Day on the Hill” was held April 24, 2007, on Capitol Hill. The Partnership for Financial Literacy Policy hosted the forum, and includes Junior Achievement Worldwide, the Jump$tart Coalition® for Personal Financial Literacy, and the National Council on Economic Education (NCEE).

The “Day on the Hill” showcased more than 50 national providers of financial education, including AWARE. Featured guests included Congressman Rubén Hinojosa (D-TX), Congresswoman Judy Biggert (R-IL), who are the co-chairs of the Financial and Economic Literacy Caucus, as well as Senator Daniel Akaka (D-HI), and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Treasury for Financial Education Dan Iannicola. Nearly 500 Congressional staff persons also attended, in addition to representatives from federal agencies and consumers.

The event was designed to help foster dialogue among policymakers on the critical importance of financial education for all Americans, especially youth. AWARE shared information on auto financing with members of Congress, their staffs, and other attendees and exhibitors.

The Financial Literacy “Day on the Hill” event was sponsored by the American Institute of CPAs, Capital One, HSBC, MasterCard Worldwide, The McGraw-Hill Companies, and State Farm.
