For the second year in a row, AWARE was an official Money Smart Partner, sponsoring a number of workshops around Chicago focusing on auto financing education. The sixth annual Money Smart Week Chicago 2007, held April 30 – May 1, 2007, featured more than 300 events held throughout the city and surrounding suburbs ranging in topic from credit to home buying to retirement.
This year, AWARE worked with the Center for Economic Progress, a nonprofit organization working to increase economic opportunities for low-income families, children and individuals both in Illinois and throughout the nation, through an array of direct services, public education and advocacy. For Money Smart Week 2007, the Center for Economic Progress utilized AWARE's auto financing curriculum – "The Auto Financing Road Map" – to host auto financing educational workshops on the campus of Harold Washington College.
AWARE also sponsored a workshop held by Great Lakes Credit Union, a nonprofit financial institution headquartered in Great Lakes, Illinois. GLCU held a series of workshops at a local high school, including one solely dedicated to the subject of auto financing. AWARE provided the educational materials for the workshop. |
